I work as the IT support for our group but haven't developed much experience reading the Hijack this Logs yet. I've got a computer which I'm relatively sure has some spyware. I've run Spybot but still have popup problems and web pages being installed on the desktop. Could someone take a look and help me clean this mess up. If you have a second, a few references for recognizing the offending cultprits would help so I don't have to always rely on you guys. Here is the Hijackthis log

Thanks

Tom

Hi MR Ribs,

I don't see any signs of the peper trojan.
This is netster spyware. Have HJT fix it. Install spywareblaster to prevent further occurrences

Thanks for taking a look.

When I did a search this morning for BMMGAG (in the registry and I didn't recognize it)I got a number of references to the Peper virus. Now I still see it in the Hijackthis log. Is this not an indicator and if not what is that file for?

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [BMMGAG] RunDll32 C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\pwrmonit.dll,StartPwrMonitor

Looking at this part C:\PROGRA~1\ThinkPad\UTILIT~1\pwrmonit.dll,StartPwrMonitor
of it, it's part of the thinkpad utilities, if you're really concerned regarding it, check it's properties but I think that one is a legit file.

very simple example,
peper usually has something like this in the last 3rd of running processes

C:\WINDOWS\System32\Fvemf4V7.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Yvk4sD3.exe

and in the 04's of a hijack log

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [2N85L533MR#GJT] C:\WINDOWS\System32\LgnJ8V3.exe

Note the presence of a 14 character CLSID

[2N85L533MR#GJT]

With thanks to iceblue for the above example.

Peper doesn't always conform tho.
