Mysterious file on portable hard drive

Specs: Windows Vista
Recently I noticed two folders on my portable hard drive which have hexadecimal like folder names, one being (1dc96e159f68ad2051ef15fd9073). I opened the folders and they both contain an .exe file called MRT approximately 30MB each. Can anybody tell me what they are why they are there?

Are you sure it's not on C: as well? Did you search for it? I don't know how it got to the external drive.
