I posted about my browser trying to go to a different site than what I put in. I specified IP addresses and I posted a hijackthis log. That post got deleted. I assumed that the forum admin didn't want me putting in IP addresses.

I posted another message without putting in IP addresses and posted a hijackthis log. I had a response and responded. The next time I came to check on the thread, it's gone.

Why?

Yup- my post about Virtual Bouncer below has been deleted once as well. I don't understand why- it's certainly offensive only to companies who follow this sort of practice. I'm wondering what's up with that?

The administrator has made several requests that hijackthis logs not be listed as an initial post. Post the difficulty you are having and what the results were after you have used Adaware and Spybot to rectify the problem, and your post will not be removed. Most of these problems will be resolved by using Adaware and Spybot. If the problems are not fixed by these programs then a post with the problem and a hijackthis log can be added so some helper like Tom41 that are really knowledgeable about checking hijackthis log files and will tell you what to delete or what action to take. If someone requests a hijackthis log after you have tried Adaware and Spybot or they ask for the log to assist you the post will remain. I know that there are forums where the helpers are there just to assist people in the use of the hijackthis log, "lurkhere" is one such place. Also hijackthis provides a "how to" help file with the program. I hope that I have clarified the policy correctly for you.

Gotcha. I saw other people doing it so I was just skipping a step and getting right to the meat. I've already ran adaware but do not have the spybot link. Do you have it?

Btw I have seen no such request from anyone to not post hijack logs right off the bat. I don't scour through every message on the forum before posting and I didn't not notice anything pinned or announced anywhere. If I did I would have honored that request.

Spybot can be downloaded from http://www.wilders.org/ Madaxe, take care and not to worry! Make sure you get the latest update after you install it, and keep the deleted item in the restore feature. Just make sure all the programs you like to use work before you delete the files that are saved in restore. I have found that is more aggressive than Adaware in ferreting out the bad stuff, and there can be some files that you might need, so be a little cautious in cleaning restore files.

Thanks capt.

Kevin, I missed that because of habit and I'm usually in a hurry. I click to submit the message, then scroll down to make sure the message looks ok and then click to confirm. I'll try to slow down to see if any new announcements are on the confirmation screen in the future. Sorry about that.
