Specs: Windows 7, 8GB
I get a message on the monitors (I have switched 2 out thinking they were the issue) that "not supported mode" on the Samsung and 'out of range 63.9kHz/59Hz" on the Sony. I need safe mode to clear a virus. Is is possible that the virus is disabling functions of my monitor?

just tap f8 on bootup and select safe mode
