My internet will not load

Specs: Windows Vista
We have just purchased a brand new computer and have been using the internet with it. everything has been working great with no problems. just today i have not been able to get onto the internet. at first i thought it may just be the connection but I am still able to get on World of Warcraft without any problems and i have my xbox360 hooked up to live with it as well and that still works fine. The only thing is, if i try to pull up any internet browswer it will not load, i get the "page can not be displayed" message. I have tried several different things and nothing is working.

I am not sure what it is. I told a friend of mine what was going on and he stated it is a virus.

What sort of virus is this, and how do i get rid of it?

I really could use any help i can get with out having to pay geek squad $300.00 to fix it. I have ran scans and everything and i get nothing, it shows there is nothing on the computer. But everyone stats that it is a virus.

Please help.

You should delete all temporary internet files, temporary files, browsing history. You should reset your internet explorer setting. Then you should check, if problem still same then you need to uninstall and reinstall the internet explorer and you should also scan your computer with Malwarebytes or super anti-spyware.
