my internet links are hyjacked. Help!

Specs: Windows XP
My searches are being redirected to other sites. My MSE won't update, but scans are coming back clean. Malware bytes catches things, on each scan, but problem doesn't go away. I keep getting an unregistered version of "Total Security" supposedly from microsoft, that pops up on its own running scans that say I have all these worms and trojans. I think I have been hyjacked, but can't seem to fix it. I downloaded Malware bytes a second time and renamed as "iexplore.exe" before installation. Now "iexplore" is running very high on task manager, but problem is not gone. Is this now hyjacked too?

Can you use Windows Task Manager? (Right-click on an empty spot in the Taskbar at the bottom of your screen, and select "Task Manager" from the menu)

If so, go to the Process tab and look for and select a process named tsc.exe and click: End Process

Close out of Task Manager and start Malwarebytes', update the program, and run a full scan.

When MBAM is finished removing the infection, it will open a log in Notepad.

Please post the results in you reply.

If you cannot open and use Task Manager, let us know.

The above is the simplest approach, however, if you cannot run Task Manager, or the infection is not eliminated, we need to engage in additional steps such as: using a Registry fix to be able to run exe files, killing malicious processes planted in the system, and, running Malwarebytes’ AntiMalware (MBAM) to get rid of the malware.

Do you have access to another computer that is not infected, and also to a clean flash drive?
