My i-mac doesn't reciognise my password to op

Specs: Windows XP
imac OSX ,passwords don't work after a hotmail virus attack. I recently downloaded a program to dope my mac's performances, I began to apply it and then midway it stopped and the company asked me to pay to finish the work. I did'nt pay so it stopped but continued to popup asking me to join. Recently after my hotmail account was used to send messages with a link to all my contacts, I then reinforced my rather cheesy defences and introduced a new master password and deactivated automated internet connections, cookies etc. After changing the masterpassword, I could no longer open a session with my regular user password or the masterpassword. It reciognizes none of them. I hope to save the contents on my imac help please!

a possible option

You can put any OS X disk into the drive and reboot - right after the chimes, press and hold the C key to boot from the DVD. Select your language, and on the next screen click on Tools at the top of the screen, then Reset Password.

If you totally can't get your hands on an OS X disk, the Apple Store will let you borrow one for free, and they will re-issue the Restore Disks for a few bucks.

not the best choice
