My google results are being hijacked!

October 26, 2010 at 04:01:53
Specs: Windows XP
My google results are being hijacked! I click on search results and am taken to useless other sites. My firewall is on and AVG antivirus software is up-to-date (although it needed to reinstall intself a couple of times over the past few days, which was suspicious). It does feel like something has taken over my system...any help appreciated! Thanks, Amanda

unfortunately tdss killer doesn't do much good by itself. You should 1st run rkill.exe to kill the process and then run tdss killer to remove whatever it finds.

Then run malwarebytes doing a full system scan. See how your PC runs after that.

thanks! in the meantime I ran lavasoft adaware, and it found a high level security threat called something like Win32.Trojan.FakeAV, which it described as a malware. Will this be it, do you think, or should I keep looking for more nasties? Thanks again - I appreciate your advice!
