Comment: Well its actually my grandpas computer, but im the one that has to deal with it. The thing that happends is that you turn on the computer and it goes to a screen that sayd something along the lines of windows was shut down please chose one of the following options with the arrow keys: Start windows in safe mode Start windows in something else Start windows with last known good config Start windows normally With that said, it doesnt matter what I pick, I get the same thing happening everytime it looks like its loading it up and the screen goes blue and has some txt that i'm never able to read beacause it flashes for about half a second and restarts. Then it goes to the same sceen and nothings happend. I've tried rescues a rescue disk and it found no viruses preventing it from starting. Ive gone and messed with the setup, not changing any thing major but still nothing. Oh I forgot to mention that this happend right after he turned off his computer after visiting a forien web site about girls in calenders and insists that he thought it wasnt any thing bad. I've lost all hope can any one help me or should I just tell him to throw it away and buy a new one with the money he doesnt have?

Reply: (edit)Is there an option to shut off automatic system reboot on a system failure in the options menu? there should be since its XP. if there is try shutting that off and going into safe mode it may not give you the BSOD (Blue screen of death). Do you have any operating system discs or restore discs? If option one does not work then you either have to reformat[1] your computer or use a restore cd if your computer came with one. Try the restore cd first. Your windows loader maybe corrupt and the cd will in most cases repair it without losing any important files. If that still dose not help then you MAY have a hardware failure somewhere. Does your hard drive make any ticking/clicking noises when you boot up? If so you hard drive maybe bad. [1]=Which means that all data on that hard drive will be lost. All games, music...everything.

Reply: (edit)Well would the shut off automatic system reboot on a system faliure be on the same screen as the Start windows in safe mode Start windows in something else Start windows with last known good config Start windows normally ? If so then its not, and it is xp im sure of it, and no he didnt get a restore dick because it was given to him by his son. Since I dont have any of those options how do I reformat it? it would matter if everything got erased because he only used it for getting on the internet and messing around. Oh and theres no beeping except for the one that should happen.
