Comment: I have a virus: problem:
XP is running very slow
The virus seems to have disabled all antivirus software including MS anti-spyware beta and norton's. It has disabled items on my start menu such as, all programs, search ect.
It has disabled icons on my desktop, My system is in bits, and im falling behind on my work! Please, please sombody help! Regards,

Reply: (edit)Recommend is to format your PC but before that save all important files on your pc! Even if you can remove the virus, its effect is hard to fix! Regards

Reply: (edit)If you really know what you're doing, another thing you can try is to build a Boot cd like this one --> http://www.ubcd4win.com/ OR physically remove the hard drive from your system, and slave it to another system with a good antivirus and run a scan from there on it. That seems like your only hope here, as a lot of these viruses today are nearly impossible to remove from within the windows installation, even from safe mode.

Reply: (edit)Run your scans while in safe mode. This will prevent whatever program is causing the problem from being loaded.

Reply: (edit)get cws shredder, run online virus scan, spybot search and destroy or adware. you cant run norton in safe mode it wont let you. you can try on line virus scan in safe mode with networking Please keep us updated so we know if we helped you or not.
