At first I thought it was an over heating issue, but this only lasts for a couple minutes then everything goes back to normal.

Every so often the fan will go to high speed, really loud, and the computer and internet service will slow down. I've noticed the slowing on other computers on my home network whenever this loud fan thing happens.

That's not the weird part though. We've taken to turning this computer off to stop it from doing whatever it's doing. Then, when it's turned off, not just sleeping or hibernating, it turns itself on, the fan goes loud, and the internet slows down. After a couple minutes, and after booting up, it goes back to normal and even sometimes turns itself back off. The only way we've found to keep this from happening is to turn the power strip off, completely stopping any access to power.

I've tried going throught he processes that are running, and looked at what processes are used during start-up, but can't find anything out the ordinary. We use Avast anti-virus and do regular scans, but still haven't found anything.

Any ideas?

1- is this a PC or laptop?
2- Have you done any malware scans yet besides Avast?
Do us ALL a favor and explain what you have already tried besides disconnecting from the power bar.

It will save you LOTS of time.

Some HELP in posting on plus free progs and instructions Cheers
