Last night I was sent a message on MSN saying "Haha, is this really you?" followed by a link. I thought nothing of it for some reason, and clicked on it.

Now, I have this virus. Even though I'm set to offline, conversation boxes keep coming up and trying to do something. When I was online after it happened, it automatically sent it to everyone on my list.

I've tried using the task manager to kill the task, but my task manager won't stay up long enough for me to do so. I'm thinking the virus has something to do with this.

Also, I've tried running my virus scanner. It scans for about a minute and closes itself out. Also something I believe is affected by this virus.

I'm really in need of some help here. If any of you know anything about this virus and a way to get rid of it, it would be greatly apprecitated if you could tell me.

Thanks.

you should try doing your scans in safe mode, do that by rebooting and tapping the F8 key during startup.

omfgxemily, The link below may be of some help. Try running a virus scan in SAFE mode.

Why does Task Manager, MSCONFIG, or REGEDIT disappear while opening?
