Does anybody know if by configuring a Firewall/Router to allow 1 machine on a private LAN to use MSN Messenger this could pose a security risk to the other machines on that private network ?

Many thanks......

Of course it can. You can get a virus via MSN Messenger if you are not safe and if you get a virus that is network aware it will spread to the other systems.

As long as at least one system is hanging out there to an open connection there where always be a risk.
