Comment: Frequently I have the situation where when I try to sign in to MSN Messenger I get the the message "Cannot sign in, Name does not exist;password incorrect or problem with server" However, if I temporarily disable my Firewall (Norton Internet Security 2002 Professinal) I can sign on and everything is fine. Within the firewall settings I have MSN Messenger set to Permit All. Sometimes everything is fine and I can sign on with the firewall running. Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you. Peter.

Reply: About the only thing you can do is check you program configuration, to make sure everything is set correctly, or try Symantec's Tech Support to fix the problem. If it was me, and it is annoying, I would get a better firewall. The free versions of Sygate, Kerio and Zone Alarm all have better testing results than Norton, and offer more security control. There are evaluations and recommendations at PC Flank, wilders.org, Gibson research and thepublicworks.
