MseExec.exe suspicious script activity

Specs: Windows XP
Firstly, I dont have a clue about computers other than switching it on and surfing the net so I need all the help I can get.
After log on I get a message C:\WINDOWS\system32\MsiExec.exe contains suspicious scripting and has been stopped followed by four options of which I'm not sure which to pick. The computer seems to be running ok, no problems so far internet wise and can access files. The only problem I have is after I log off and click on switch off computer it informs me that its installing updates 1 of 5 and not to switch off or unplug the computer as it will switch of automatically. Up until now this has only ever taken a few minutes, but over the past week it has taken hours, and would probably take days if I wasnt forced to switch it off every time. Could these two things be connected and why is this happening, more importantly how do I fix this.

PS. I have run a virus scan, sped up my pc, and checked drivers all appears to be well there too.
