Microsoft security researchers are warning about a new generation of powerful system monitoring programs, or "rootkits," that are almost impossible to detect using current security products and that could pose a serious risk to corporations and individuals.

I wonder what,if any thing,MS plans to do about these root kits with the next OS release.
Does this go for Linux as well?

The description of the behavior of these rootkits and the documents returned from a "rootkit" search out on Google at least identify what I got!!!

This is not just "the next thing," I fear! Untll we can isolate our systems, we are potential bait!

I was stupid and picked this thing up when the firewall was off as I was DL'ing SP2! (I suspect a rootkit developer was
"sniffing" for somone doing the SP2
update and probably slipped a modified DLL in there! If these people can take this thing to the next level... We are dead
