By the way.....what's the concensus of the regulars? Personally, I usually wait for user reports, just in case the patches slow up the 'puter, or there are some bugs.

Are you people installing it right away?? Thanks, all!

Thanks, TheKid.
tomo - I installed it - I like to live dangerously. If I disappear for a few days, you'll know why!

Thanks for that, TheKid.

tomo - I took the leap too and I haven't yet seen any degradation in XP, especially with IE.

Thanks for the notice.

I normally wait a day or two to make sure hte update is safe.

It kind of scared me, though, to read that machines with IE SP1 INSTALLED can be affected, even if you use another browser instead.

efabes,

What's it that you read that says machines with IE SP1 INSTALLED can be affected? Affected with what?

FYI All the workstations in my network have IE SP1 - none ever had a problem. Some even have alternate browsers side by side

The update site says that the security flaw allows websites to run whatever code they want on your machine (if you have IE 6 sp1 installed) even if you are not using IE to view the site.

Yes that's not only true but also the reason why MS posted the security update today. The idea of this update is to fix the new security flaws of the browser.

Thanks TheKid, hope it don't overide my security.

Yes the update is needed, even if you
use another browser.
