Microsoft has released the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool to help remove specific, prevalent malicious software from computers that are running Microsoft Windows Server 2003, Microsoft Windows XP, or Microsoft Windows 2000. The Malicious Software Removal Tool supersedes all virus-cleaner tools that were previously released by Microsoft.

Hi wombat, sorry I beat you on this one - it's all here http://computing.net/security/wwwboard/forum/14793.html
I got it thru Windows Updater today and it gave me a green checkmark.

My humblest apologies XpUser... I will now go and sit in the corner. Also I will not have any beers today...

no beer = no fun, so don't punish yourself and go have a lot of fun!!!!!!
When all else fails beat the $%!* out of it!!!

Is this the same thing as Microsoft AntiSpyware? I have the beta of that, and I uninstalled it before doing the Updates today. Is the final version of AntiSpyware available yet?

Wombat,
No need to fret :-) Let's drink together :-)
Matt,
No it is a different one. mosaddique posted a thread with a LINK to the Malicious Software Removal Tool. This tool check for the presence of Berbew, Blaster, DoomJuice, Gaobot, Mydoom, Nachi, Sasser, and Zindos on your PC and remove it. The Antispyware beta probably will stay around until June 2005 at which time the program cease to function.

my ms antispyware doesn't expire untill
july 31st. or 200 days. whichever comes first.
maybe cause my cousin works for MS. haha.

Has anyone heard whether this "tool" plays well with other software? I wouldn't want to have more sp2-type issues. Personally, Im happy with spybot.
