Have you downloaded the latest version from Microsoft? Last week there was a major update that exteneded the the expiry date to 31 Dec 2005. It installed automatically, but in my case I had some errors after the update. I uninstalled it, and then downloaded the latest version from Microsoft and installed it, it now works fine.

Had the same problem till I realised that a reboot was needed.

Not every time, sabertooth, but lately it has been. The last update went through for me without having to but I say stuff it now and reboot just in case it is affecting something. Some AV programs are the same ....

I ran into the same problem with the latest upgrade, and I had to reboot to get it fixed.

That's right but I'm sure before that it would recognise that it had the latest definitions without a reboot. Doesn't hurt to reboot after any update anyway I suppose.
