MP3 files format changed after virus scan

Specs: WinXP-SP3, Intel P4 / 1GB
Hi Guys,

I have loads of MP3 files stored in my USB (External) hard drive. Few months ago, I scanned the drive with Norton 360 Anti-Virus software, the application completed the scan and removed few infections. I did this on WinXP - SP3 and on a Intel Platform desktop machine.

But, strangely, most of the MP3 files were converted to JPEG files. Is there a way to restore this?

Many Thanks,

If there are not too many folders and there are no genuine jpg picture files present, all you need is a simple batch file:

Ren *.jpg *.mp3

You type that in NotePad then save it as Convert.bat (name not important but .bat is). Put it in the folder(s) containing the files then double click it in order to rename all that is in there.

We all live on a ball.

I used the bulk rename software to rename all the files to fix the issue. :) .
It didn't work when I did this manually.

Anyways, Thank you all for your responses.
