I've recently started using Mozilla. I found out just today that Mozilla comes with an integrated popup blocker. Up to this point I had also been using STOPzilla in conjunction with Mozilla. Whenever I hit certain sites, I will be berrated with popups. Other sites that are well known for popups however, I will get none. Now I have completely cleaned out my comp of any Spyware or adware that I may have had. I've ran updated versions of Spybot, Ad-Aware, Norton Anti-virus, CWShredder, HijackThis, and scooped out my registry. Now am I getting these popups due to a conflict from using both Mozilla and the STOPzilla popup blocker, or is this something else? Should I stop using STOPzilla? Is Mozilla's popup blocker good enough to fly solo?

Keep in mind, I've never used Mozilla before, I was recently turned onto it after IE kept pissing me off. Is there anything else I need to know about Mozilla?

Mozilla is unaffected by IE spyware, and its built-in popup blocker is all I've ever needed.

You may also want to enable the features that prevent javascript from moving or reiszing windows and changing the status bar text.

It did. Use mozilla, no need for stopzilla. The very few popups out there capable of interupting netscape and its lovely daughter Mozilla, will be stopped by mozilla alone. No idea if there is a conflict between the two but it doesn't matter just use mozilla alone. And look at all the other features it has such as customized cookie blocking

I doubt this would be it, but you might want to check and make sure that there aren't certain sites that are allowed to let pop-ups through. (Tools>Popup Manager>Manage popups) I know Netscape 7.1 has some sites listed there by default (like Netscape.com), which can be removed. I don't think Mozilla does this, though, but you mgiht want to check to be sure.

Yeah, I'll do that as well, but I'm pretty sure its not that.

I'll give you guys some examples to maybe help out.

When I go to ESPN.com the typical travelocity or hotwire ads are not allowed to popup.
When i go to another site I usually check daily, such as xdccspy.com I'll get 2 popups.

I'm not allowing any popups, but yet I get them.

I checked that site in Mozilla Firebird 0.7 and didn't get any popups. My roommate didn't either when he tried it, also in Firebird 0.7.

I also use Firebird 0.7 and get no popups. Did however have trouble getting into some of my sites until I realised that there is a blue icon coming up in lower left corner that gives you the option of allowing pop ups on certain sites. Unless you allow them they are all blocked. There are however ways that sites can open a new window. Don't know of many but you can stop them from loading using the Java settings in Mozilla Firebird 0.7.
