I need to help, my computer is driving me nutz. Ok here's the problem:

My mouse is moving randomly all over my screen, clicking on stuffs randomly, or sometimes it just stop functioning. (wouldn't move, wouldn't response to click) but my keyboard is still functioning.(so I'm stuck with using keyboard now. T__T)
I installed two system on my computer, window XP, and windown 98. On XP the problem is less serious, and mouse just stop functioning, and sometimes suddenly scoll down a page without me doing it. and sometimes it makes a beep sound before the mouse start doing weird stuff.
On windows 98, the mouse just keeps moving all over my screen very fast and clicks on places, and it seems if I don't move my mouse and it will stop moving around my screen like crazy.
Also, this happens periodically, I've got it for about 2 months now, and it got better once, and I thought it was gone, but today it just got really bad, worse than ever.

HOW I GOT IT: I helped a friend opened a email called "Re: Application" form "something@163.net", the content is "see attachment for detail". the attachment is "Application.zip" and I opened the zip file (I'm really, really stupid. T__T but could refuse my friend's request)and opened the msdos file in the zip file, and nothing showed, and since then, my computer was weird. I even tried to format my computer once, but problem persist, since I backed up some of my document.

it's looks quiet like the worm SOBig.e, but i download the antivirus to scan my computer, no trace of virus was found. by now I've probably used a dozen anti virus to scan my computer and non of them could even detect a trace of this virus.

SOFT I USED: Rising, housecall, seval symantec's virus removal tools, trend micro's system clean, etc(used too many, dont' quiet remember what else i used)

I'm really frustrated, and desprate somebody help me please! I want to throw my computer out of the window now. T__T

saw that on my nephews pc, it stopped when he installed a new optical mouse. so maybe just the software did the trick.

thanx a lot. but I don't really think it's the mouse or it's software's problem. coz today, right now my mouse works like a charm. you'd never thought how frustrating it was last night. as I said, the problem was periodically, happens once a few weeks. then it's gone, or at least not so bad.

but still, thanx a lot 4 helping. ^_^

i think it might be a joke program, which could also be called a non-destructive trojan.

while it is running normaly-
press ctrl+alt+del and make a note of all running processes,
then when it starts acting up press ctrl+alt+del and end task whatever is causing it, then search for the file/program and delete it.

I am also having a mouse problem everyday. The only difference is when my mouse stops moving my keyboard doesn't work. Last night my keyboard was typing letters I didn't type, but the letters were only on the left side of the keyboard. ex. tried to type an "s" and "as" was typed. "w" and "qw" kept repeating. Moments later my mouse froze. Today its not typing unwanted letters, but the mouse has froze 4 times and I need to restart the system. Someone please help! My system runs Microsoft ME.

I had the same problem of my mouse running all over the screen. For most of the time its either travelling up to the top of the screen or down to the bottom of the screen.
It seems to be attracted the the border of my screen.

I had 2 operating system, one is WindowsXP, the other is Linux. The mouse does not create any trouble when I log on to Linux. Everything works just as normal. But when i log on to windows, the mouse went crazy and doesn't obey my control. I had formatted my system for at least 4 times now but it does not seems to solve the problem. It's driving me crasy too!!!!

Hope someone will come to our rescue!!

I also have that mouse problem. The mouse is uncontrollable at random occurrences. I tried several antivirus program like Mcaffee,Norton, housecall panda..etc. doesn't detect the virus. I also tried to change my PS/2 mouse to my other serial mouse but my serial mouse won't work. I think the virus is preventing me to use the serial mouse because it only work in a PS/2 mouse.

I have the same problem with the mouse moving randomly around the screen. I must do a Ctrl-Alt_Del to reboot the computer. Some days the problem occurs several times within minutes and other days only once after hours of being turned on. Now that I see these postings with other people reporting the same problem I think it must be some virus and not a hardware problem. I am using Windows 98, and I think the virus is somehow attached to the operating system because sometimes when I must use Ctrl-Alt-Del the only program shown to be running is Explorer. I have not tried reformatting my disk yet.
