Comment:

My mouse pointer automatically changes to a bar code within a few minutes of connecting to the internet. Once this happens, the mouse pointer cannot be changed back even from the mouse properties area in Control panel. Only after rebooting does it go away. And if I continue to surf with this 'bar code pointer', after about 10 minutes the system hangs and the screen is covered with lines. I use McAfee virus scan and the bundled firewall fully updated but it does`nt shows a virus. Also my svchost.exe 'LOCAL HOST' process keeps on taking up more memory and goes up to more than 60MB! I think they are related. Please help my identify and remove this trojan.

I also noted another intereting thing about this trojan/virus. When I took a screenshot including the mouse cursor, it showed up as a perfectly normal pointer in the captured image, while it was actually a barcode on the screen!!
Also a thin version of the barcode is always moving with the mouse at the extreme left edge of the screen.
Right now I am trying out the trojanscan.com scanner. I will post the results when its done.

wawadave:I tried trojanscan.com and pcflank.com but they did not detect any trojan on my computer.
Latest symtoms: After some time of the appearance of the barcode, the whole screen starts shaking with every keypress or mouse movement or scroll.
As the pointer did not appear on the captured image, i took photographs of it on my webcam. They are at: http://rohitrawat.tripod.com/mouse/index.html
the trailing bar at the left edge gets thicker as the hacker gains control over my PC.
i need help about this trojan or i`ll have to format my comp.
I dont know why noody else seems to have got this.

Hi,
I have exactly the same problem as you (you're not alone ;-) ). When it occured to me my OS was windows Me, and now my OS is windows Xp (hard-drive formated) but no changes (I always have the barcode). Some peoples said to me that it's because of my graphic card (myne:trident video accelerator blade 3D/promedia, yours ???).

Are you sūre it's because of a trojan ??

So it will be very cool if we can help each other.

Sorry for my english it's not my birth language ;-)

bye
