mouse freezes

when i startup the computer after about 45 sec the mouse freezes..cursor won't move. I then have to reboot and same problem again. Is this a virus???? and how do i get rid of it? thanks

Can you use any keys and just not the mouse, or neither?. If just the mouse won't work, there may be a problem with the mouse device driver or the connection from the mouse to the computer. If you can't use keys nor mouse, then something else serious is going on.
The only way to see if it's a virus, which is most certainly can be, is to run a virus check with the latest update. Try running in safe mode to see if the mouse behaves any differently, if it works better, use the opportunity to check for viruses with your anti-virus program.
