I am wondering if there is a particular virus,etc. that would cause the file version info to become missing from the "properties"
window. I have noticed that some dll and exe files on my system do not show the version info when I select "properties".

Virus have become the technological equivalents to "a wizard did it"

Not all files necessarily contain that kind information - had these particular files ever shown their version via properties?

I'm not sure. I sometimes get bored and just browse the folders looking at curious filesso I have looked at alot of files and don't remember. It wasn't part of a particular problem. Once, a couple years back before I had to reinstall windows I had viewed a dll file (something to do with http)
in a text scanner and I swear that I could see in the jumble of code messages and pieces of odd info, like "you better pay up
johnny" and things about my programs. Makes me wonder what's inside these things.
