Mirc that I can't delete??? HELP
A few days ago, an INOPERABLE version of Mirc started to load on startup on my Win 2000 o/s. It loads on all 4 identities startup. None of us downloaded it (home PC).
Here's the rub...It doesn't show up in any search of the computer files, nor on add/remove software. I've run Norton, Lavasoft, Regedits...everything. I can't find it so I can't delete it. As I said it is inoperative. I can't connect to any of the irc servers, configure, or anything. It's just there, and it's messing other settings I believe. How the blazes can I isolate, and get rid of this thing??? It's making me crazier than I already am. I'm not a sophisticated enduser, so I don't really know how to start tearing into the guts of this, but I do need help. Any assistance is welcome. Thank you all.

Grant
PS IT's not in startup. Like I said, I can't find it.

it is probably a hidden file, or files if you have the whole version, which i doubt.
you would have to login as admin, and change
your settings to view hidden files,
then search all folders and subfolders for it,
and search the registry for it also, using regedit.com
google search for delete+hidden+file+win2k

Man, this is too easy!

You've got Win2k >> great! Look at the processes list and terminate all the processes that you know and then terminate some of the others.

I knot that win2k and NT uses a bunch of processes wich are not running in win98 or winme. If you can use another Win2k Computer, then copy the processes list from that computer. Come back at your home computer and compare your list with the processes list, remove those processes as I told you and there should be some garbage. Do not just terminate it: copy it's pathname and delete manually after you terminate the process.if you can't delete the exe file from windows, then restart in ms-dos mode and nuke it with the old mighty powerfull "del" dos command!

good hunting [death 2 mIRC]
