Comment: My friend handles my emails while I am away for my small business. I installed McAfee on her machine with the latest update. When I returned, a virus scan of her entire drive found 10 viruses in the Eudora Attach folder despite using McAfee. She deleted the viruses using McAfee and upon rescanning found no viruses. About a week later, she was not able to boot her computer due to a virus. What I am wondering is if the virus could have been contracted while she was handling my emails even though McAfee removed all the viruses after my return and gave her machine a clean bill of health. She uses Outlook Express to read her own emails.

Reply: The virus has ruined my McAfee and Escan anti virus programs. It was the KLEZ virus and ElKERN worm which attacks the Outlook Express and uses the email address book to spread to others. You can find many solutions here if you make a search for KLEZ or Outlook Express. The prefered anti virus tools are Kaspersky, Norton, AVG, You have to take care about the virus residing in the hard drive even if the email is deleted or unopened. For Outlool Express you can have a antivirus plugin which will stop the attachment file from downloading. It can then be scanned and healed.
