I use McAfee VirusScan, and I try to stay as virus free as possible, but either I don't know how to make McAfee scan downloads, or it doesn't scan downloads.
When I'm at a download link, and I right click it, I don't see "Scan for viruses with McAfee", or whatever.
Does McAfee actually have a download scanner?

You do not do the scan at the download link. You select save the file and when the download is complete you scan it before you open the file with McAfee.

PC-Cillin scans as the file is downloading. It will stop the download and ask how to proceed if it detects a virus.
I do not know if McAfee can also do this.

Hi
I use mcafee and have no problems...it does scan downloads automatically as you are downloading them. As said above always choose to save the file to disk. The virus if any won't run from the downloaded file unless you run the file.
The only files I find mcafee does not scan while downloading are zipped files, you will need to scan them manually.
I have been using mcafee for almost 2 years and never had a virus that mcafee didn't catch and deal with right away. Once you have the file downloaded...right click it to get your "scan for viruses" option.
The reason mcafee doesn't scan files from a download link...mcafee would need to access the websites computer, the file on it, and scan it...not possible.
Hope that clears any confusion.Good luck and take care.

Although many detest Norton, it DOES scan downloads, along with all incoming and outgoing e-mail. Was unaware of it until Noton trashed a music DL I was getting and informed me it had a virus within it.

Hello all; ditto here too with McAfee; works like a charm!!
Can't speak for Norton, as I've never used it.
