Ken:

If you haven't already, download, install, update and run the utilities below. The first two remove malware, the third protects against it.

Ad-Aware
Spybot
SpywareBlaster

OK, Make sure all your scanners (A/V, spyware, adware, etc) are fully updated.
Boot computer into Safe Mode, because many things can hide in normal mode.

(usually by tapping the F8 key about every second, as soon as you hit power ON button. Use arrow keys to select Safe Mode from the text menu and then hit ENTER (may need to hit Enter a second time for XP?).

Once in Safe Mode, run all your scanners to clean everything out. Restart puter normally.......If still have pests/pop-ups??
Are these Windows Messenger pop-ups or ad pop-ups?? Disable Messenger if not already done.

You may well need to disable your System Restore function because some things can hide in SR and these folders can not be cleaned, so they must be deleted (by temporarily disabling SR)

with SR disabled, go to run the free HouseCall at>>>
http://housecall.trendmicro.com

After that reboot into Safe Mode, run all updated scanners again, Reboot normally and if clean??? then re-enable the "System Restore" Utility and set a new good restore point.

Post back if still bugged
