We notice many questions are always the same into that forum, please check if there is no answer already posted here before posting a new one !!!
Often you can find the answer by the name of the problem, as for exemple the name of a trojan, or the name of the file concerned : internet explorer for exemple....
Read all information already given about a specific subject before to ask for help
About Trojan's you have around 50 posts made here, with comments and suggestions

Actually I totally agree with that, though I sometimes find myself sifting through posts that indeed mention a particular topic I'm looking for, but sometimes mentioning is as far as it goes. There are times when you'll be better off and save time by asking.

One other thing, as we all know in here, information changes often, in the case of technology related issues, those changes occur on a seemingly daily basis. Information that was right on target a few months ago may have a few changes made to it or is totally not the case at all now. This, in my opinion, is definately the case in the security world.

Many people are newbies and do not yet know the terminology to find the correct answers. It is easy to find information once you can ask the right questions.

Many other people are not confident enough in their computing abilites to extrapolate info from other posts for their own problems.
It is much easier to ask and get an answer from someone who knows.

It is just another way to learn.

I have to agree with efabes.. when I first came here I tried the search but all the results "went straight over my head"... so I started a new topic and the solution was found by some nice people that understood the difficulties and made the process far easier to understand. dw266 is also correct in that information does change daily.

2 observations if I may put these forward;

Re: Trojans

Perhaps posting a sticky at the top of the forum
with links to twenty or so previous posts

saying "Trojans - Read This First"
would help reduce the number of multiple postings.

In fact, may I suggest a separate forum for Virus, Trojan & Hijacker.

Re: Search
The search engines filters may need a look at in the following situations;

The search scan for "import sites into trusted zones"
did not pick up the topic heading
"Trusted Web sites import" within the first forty results
even within the same forum Security and Virus that I knew it was in.

Similar scan for "trusted sites import" produced the same result.
After finding it manually, I checked again,scanning for
Trusted Web sites import and
"Trusted Web sites import"
Again no luck.
