Manually Remove AVG AV 7.5 Free Plz

Original Message

Subject: Manually Remove AVG AV 7.5 Free Plz
OS: Win 98 SE
CPU/Ram: 233/191
Model/Manufacturer: Compaq
Comment:
Please help me uninstall AVG AV 7.5 Free, it is corrupted or buggy and won't uninstall.

AVG says they do not support the free version!

I tried to uninstall AVG to re-download it, and well...the uninstall doesn't work!

The message I received on uninstall was to the effect of "improperly trying to INSTALL on a workstation with unsupported OS" (paraphrased).

The program won't even run now to uninstall, but the boot scanner runs and interferes with my scandisk and defrag.

Any advice and assistance is greatly appreciated!

Tufenuf,
Thank you very much. I will try it, but am afraid to because when I tried to run the program the first time, I got a "kernel" error message and basically, the program wouldn't run to allow me to set up anything.

*Wondering why sales support couldn't point me to that link?

Thanks again, hope I'll be able to post back with results! :)

Thank you, Tuf,
I checked the uninstall info, tried to run the setup.exe on the files i had, but it did not contain an uninstall option, and it looked like the licensed version, as well.

I noticed there is a new build date of November 2 on the new free version, so
I tried it, checked the uninstall and it removed all the files except three in the exisiting Grisoft directory. But now a search shows AVG 15 files left, including 4 .exe files...should I delete these files manually?

Thanks so very much for your help!
Echoe

*Wondering why sales support couldn't point me to that link?

Because if they answer 1 Question, people are going to go "Well, can I ask you just one more thing?" The answer is no.

If they say they don't support the free version, they don't support it. Period.

You may be a very nice person, but there a whole lot of people out there feel that once they get one answer they are entitled to many more.

No means no.

Sometimes I think I understand everything, then I regain consciousness

Hi,

If you are looking for Free AVG you won't find it. AVG won't continue as a freeware, and it will ask you to purchase a license after a month or so.

It is no longer free.

Can you uninstall if from the Control Panel?
If not you can download ccleaner, to uninstall it from there, or if not remove it from you PC.

Karl
