Is there any way to manually check files for unknown malware that hasn't been detected by av yet? What should I look for? That is my main question. I have this *.exe which acts as a loader with a *.dll that goes with the *.exe which then injects into a process, and I want to know if I can some how check these files for an unknown/undetected keyloggers.

To manually check files for unknown malware you have to be a source code & source code algorithm expert. Otherwise there is just no way you can check it.

No .. You cant check the file.

But, you can have any suspicious file checked for virus or trojans by uploading the file to one of these sites.

Jotti's File Scan: http://virusscan.jotti.org/

Virus Total: http://www.virustotal.com/

Either of the above sites scan the file with 10+ of the major antivirus/trojan softwares on the market.
