Malware mail or not?

Specs: Windows XP
I received an e-mail from a friend with header "Xmas", there's a url ( wwwdotchewsumcdotcomslashindex8dot html) inside and unfortunatly I clicked on it.I've got a message that the url is no valid or something like that. Nothing happened , different scans don't bring up a virus, trojan, malware or whatever. Can't find anything about it when Googling for it Still I don't trust it.
Anyone knows what it is

If the URL was "exactly" as given then I doubt if it would have done anything because there is no dot before html. Even with the format was correct it would seem only to be a link to a website, which from what you say you never reached.

Most likely they are infected and it is sending out stuff from their address book or contacts list.

Presumably you have never put your email address on the internet. If you can find it in Google then your are bound to get spam (which can only really be sorted by changing your email address).

We all live on a ball.
