Malware affecting IE and Firefox

I have a nasty piece of malware that I'm struggling to
remove. Whatever has affected my computer has taken
over IE 7 and Firefox. Whenever I click a search result
from Google, Live or Yahoo, the link redirects to a full
page advertisement instead of the desired web site.
However, I'm still able to use Safari without any problems.
Even more frustrating, the malware blocks direct access to
well known security sites. I cannot access TrendMicro,
Symantec, or even Malwarebytes. I've been able to use
web proxy sites to at least get to some of these sites, but
the web proxy won't let me download some of the
software. The problems still occur even when I boot into
Safe Mode with Networking. I was finally able to get HijackThis installed.

I would greatly appreciate any help/advice in removing whatever this is!

Thank you,
