I got the followed message from Norton AV when i was running Windows Help. "Malicious script detected activity run Your computer is halted and need to do something about this script file: HELPCTR.exe Yes i tryed to delete it but the only i got is to quarantine it. Then i deleted.
My question is what does it has to do with window help? Do i have to do something more ? I have winME and celeron 766 with 512 ram

hello
run your virus scaner again. try an online scan at housecall anti virus its free.
check to see if your windows help files still work.if they dont try a system restore

Disable restore funtion in winME and then clean it up. It's in restore files too.

Thanks wawadave and jan. Right now i can't see anyproblem after new def for nav.How can i clean up restore Fuction Jan? You mean i will not use restore again?

Dont worry about it if you got it in time theres no problem, HELPCTR.exe is what all computer hackers use its the easist file to get into, its more like a back door, this is because Help is used so often it doesnt bother checking it fully because there is always something wrong. Run a Scandisk (complete one), Back up all of your data on Floppy and CD just encase, then run House call and NAV ( this will stop everything and should restore your computer fully).

NAV is pretty good so if you have it im sure its sorted by now. To be 100% safe open NAV and create a startup disk, this can be used if the problem comes back or new ones occur.

Im sure it wont though.

Just so you know HELPCTR.exe is the Help Control Pannel if yoy like its the file that opens the Help menu, usually the one in Microsoft Office, however it sometimes is used by Internet Explorer.
