Mal/Generic-A Virus

Specs: Macintosh osx
Hi,

I have the Mal/Generic-A Virus on my mac book. Any
suggestions how I can get rid of this myself? I'll paste

Are you detecting the virus using BootCamp or Parallels with XP?Vista/7? If you are using OSX, I think your antivirus program is detecting a getting a false positive. Otherwise, congratulations as you have the first virus in the wild using OSX.

No. I have no idea how this popped up. I am using the Sophos
antivirus program. Is this a virus that doesn't infect macs? It is
also showing OSX/Jahlav-C. How could these turn up as a
false positive?

If it is in a downloaded pdf file, it could be a Windows virus. Apple users can pass on virus infection by email to Windows users, but so far there have been no in the wild virus that attacks OSX. There was a reported Trojan, but you would have to be an idiot to go through all the steps to open it and get it.
