Comment: Microsoft Set to Update Anti-Spyware Beta Microsoft is slated to release to the Web in the next day or two a beta refresh of its Microsoft AntiSpyware product. Some testers reported Wednesday that they had downloaded a new beta version of Microsoft AntiSpyware (version number 1.0.613). They also reported that Microsoft has extended the beta-expiration date for the product from July 31, 2005, to Dec. 31, 2005.

Reply: I just did that and guess what...it's buggy The About M$ Antispyware still shows Build 1.0.509 with the expiration date 7/31/2005. This doesn't surprise me considering that it's only a beta version. i_XpUser

Reply: well I was just sittin here minding my own business when a little MS antispyware message came up asking me if I wanted to get the new version or something like that, so I said ok, installed rebooted and now it basically seems the same to me. I checked in "about ms antispyware" under "help" and it says: Microsoft AntiSpyware Version: 1.0.613 This version expires on: 31/12/2005 Jen

Reply: I'll wait for the final version...beta is really unstable untill they get the bugs out. Why would I want to do the dirty work (for no pay) for MS Antispy? Think about it, a great cheap way to build a product..why not let the publishers perfect it? But then again, I did use SP2 Beta for a long time before the final version....Hmmmm....LOL

Reply: I wouldn't really consider this a true beta. MS bought this technology from Giant Software. Look in the "about" section of IE and u will see how much software they have licensed or bought from other s/w companies. They have so much money I guess its cost less to buy than develop since time is money. SOoooo if MS buys the Mustang from Ford and rebadges it MicroSoft Mobile(beta) I don't think I would complain if they let me drive that around for a year for free. husam
