Subject: LSASS buffer overflow exploit
OS: XP Home
CPU/Ram: P4 2.66Ghz/ 1GB Ram/ Gefo
Comment:

Sygate firewall just gave me this security alert "[214] Incoming LSASS buffer overflow exploit attempt detected"

I think the firewall prevented the attempt but my XP is fully patched so the exploit shouldnt exist. Correct?

So whats the go with this?

Just becuase you patch it doesnt mean someone cant try and send the exploit anyways. If you patched it then its patched.Same thing with the slammer worm you can patch it but your firewall will still pick it up
