Yesterday I gave my system a full harddrive scan for any viruses using my Norton Anti-Virus application ver 2002 , All virus definitions are up to date.To my surprise it reported 1 virus infection located in the C:\WINDOWS\SYSYEM\hleader_dll.dll , file .At first I quarentined the file then I delelted it off my system .I disabled system restore ,in case a copy of the virus is in a old restore point, and did another full H.D. scan ,it reported no virus found .I went back and enabled system restore and created a restore point ! Does anyone know about the .dll, hleader, and if its a needed Windows system .dll ,because I dont not have it on my system anymore and want to make sure its not needed for some important windows process ,or is it just a virus related file ?
Thanks to All , Nick

Nick, Looks like it's a virus file and not a Windows file. Check out the links at the link below.

hleader_dll.dll file

My antivirus caught this the other day when scanning my incoming email.Does your AV not scan your email and if so why didn't it catch it?.

Good ? ,I wondered myself why my Norton Anti-Virus 2002 ,which is up to date ,and in fact I just renewed the subscription at $29.99, which I was reluctant to do since you can buy a newer version for less .I just did not want to do the uninstall and then install another version and have to download all of the virus definitions again ,I've been thru this B/4 ,and when you uninstall the old version you have to manually delete the folder holding the virus definitions, its a pain when still on a dial up ! My Norton anti-virus has always caught any viruses when downloading my emails ,so I have no idea how this one got past it ,in the list of viruses Iam protected from ,it does indeed list the Lodear.C virus. Now Iam thinking that it did catch the virus and I deleted it off my system sometime ago, however left behind was the .dll file hleader_dll.dll ? Anyway all is well system now clean ,and so far no ill effects from the .dll file being on my system !
Thanks Nick
