Has anyone experienced any problems after updating "Subscription Services" for their Symantec/Norton products? The Subscription Services update installs Liveupdate version 2.0 (don't know the build).
On system #1 with NAV2004, I'm getting error messages and Liveupdate doesn't function properly - the fixes on Symantec's site do not fix this problem. I've been down the uninstall/reinstall road with this system and can always repeat the problem when I download the "Subscription Services" update - I can also replicate the problem if I manually install the latest version of Liveupdate.
The two problems I'm experiencing with this system are: (1) run liveupdate (after 2.0 install) it downloads and "installs" the available update (a 123kb virus def file) but then gives an error message that the update was not installed, (2) clicking on OPTIONS gives an internal error message and all of the selections under "Enable Automatic Liveupdate" are grayed out. The internal error message techsupport document says that this problem was fixed in an updated version of NAV...BUT, DUH, if you can't run liveupdate, how do you get the updated version?
System 2's Problem: Has NIS2002 installed and the Parental Control List will not load unless you go into NAV and uncheck all of the options, reboot, recheck all of the NAV options and again reboot, then the list loads but if you shutdown the system, start all over......
Two other systems on home network are working with no problems....YET!

hello
saw several posts on this sight about this with a work around.

Thanks for the info Dave.
Glad to see I'm not the only one with difficulties (LOL or cry out loud, which ever you prefer....)

Hi all,
I have NAV 2001. Since LiveUpdate installed the new version 2.0, I have the following problems:
1. New virus definitions report that they installed rather quickly. I rebooted after the install process said it was complete. Whoa! No virus definitions in NAV. It looks like it actually takes NAV a full two minutes to really complete the definitions install process.
2. LiveUpdate 2.0 now prevents ZoneAlarm from even asking for permissions to allow LiveUpdate to access the internet. I have to kill ZoneAlarm before running LiveUpdate. It looks like Symantec added some "security" features to prevent other programs from hijacking into the LiveUpdate process. This seems to include any pauses by firewalls to ask for permissions. Killing my firewall to run LiveUpdate is not a good solution!
Anyone else experiencing similar problems???
