my linksys has a built in firewall and since i had it i cant do the following things,.
play multiplayer games on jedi knight 2, cant get some of teh files on kazaa, cant connect to direct connect, cant connect to icq, is there a way i can disable the built in firewall and just use a software firewall because this built in firewall in my router is very annoying, and by the way i have two xp machines and i did disable xp's firewall on both machines
thank you in advance

Annoying LOL!!

It look "annoying" because you do not understand what the firewall is for. It protect your computer!!!

Try to understand how firewall work instead of trying to compromise your computer!

hi joe,
i don't have a linksys router but a d-link router, so the only info i can give you is related to the dlink. in dlink to access the games and other stuff you wish to access i would have to go into dlink set up and enter some info into the Special Applications Page, if this is not sufficient then try the DMZone. So try and see if you have a Special Applications Page and do the following (if applicable!)if not then go to the DMZone in linksys:
In special apps page---
Trigger: Input the outbound port number that the appications use----
then:
Incoming Ports: when the trigger packet is detected, Input the specified incoming port numbers that are allowed to pass the firewall
If you have a box to select popular games and other stuff choose what you are using and click Copy To the predefined setting.
Please don't stop using your router, this with your firewall software will protect you better than with any firewall application!
cheers,
murve
