I received an email from my niece which contained an invitation to join linkedin. I politely declined telling her that I don't participate in social networking sites. She emailed me again, saying that she didn't send it. Linkedin read her address book & sent the invitation themselves.

How do you know when a politician is lying? His mouth is moving.

I've gotten the same thing. Emails from linkedin asking me to accept an invitation from someone I've never heard from. I emailed this person. They did NOT send this. They said they accepted an invite from Linkedin though. Now, I dont know if they scanned his addressbook or not, but since I had never had contact with this person, I would not have been in his addressbook or old emails anyway. I am also NOT a member at Linkedin, so where did Linked in get my email?????? And how can they justify sending me an email on behalf of the person when they did not request or authorize it!!!!

Linkedin are spammers of the worst kind.
