I have a virus that is preventing me from running LimeWire, before it was on my entire system, now it is only with limewire running. It causes a freeze and a crash. I have tried reinstalling. Any tips?

Run HT and remove the 018 item with RXToolbar in it.

Download killbox from this link Killbox
Double-click on Killbox.exe to run it.
Put a tick by Standard File Kill.
In the "Full Path of File to Delete" box, copy and paste each of the following lines one at a time.
Click on the button that has the red circle with the X in the middle after you enter each file.

G:\Program Files\RXToolbar

It will ask for confimation to delete the file.
Click Yes.
Continue with that procedure until you have pasted all of these in the "Paste Full Path of File to Delete" box.

Lime Wire is where your problem is most likely comming from, any p2p is a portal for disaster. You most likely gave it permission to access your computer by bypassing your antivirus.

I would search for these programs often installed with p2p and delete them:

ALTNET

INSTALFNK

KAZAA

Are you sure you did everything jabuck instructed you to do? I find the timing between jabuck's post and yours to be just less than 9 minutes apart.

Run this free online scan from Panda

When the scan completes, if anything malicious is detected, click the See Report button, then Save Report and save it to the desktop, then copy/paste into the text editor and post it.

I think you have Ewido installed, run it in safe mode. When the scan has completed, Ewido will create a report.txt file. Click the "Save Report" button on the bottom of the screen and save the log to your desktop in case you need it later.

Please reboot into normal mode and post the ewido log.

As far as LimeWire running, google for the limewire help site.

Yes I am sure, I removed the listed file using HT and the file was not found with killbox afterwards. I had previously run Edwino and many other spyware scanners that removed the spyware which he listed.

Odd. The pandascan runs fine until the 1/2 way point where it seems to get stuck on some files. Up until that point it found lots of spyware and a few viruses through.

Help, I am also having prblms with limewire pro version 4.10.

Previously I ran Free Limewire with no problems.

When I install Pro, the install goes smoothly, but when I execute it, I get the Limewire 4.10 logo and then the box turns white and stays that way on my desktop.

I go to Task Manager/Applications and Limewire is not listed, I go to Task Manager/Processes and it show Limewire. It uses 97% of memory, and just stays there intil I end the process.

I read the post from jabuck and would like to try his solution, but do not understand how to:

"Run HT and remove the 018 item with RXToolbar in it."

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

John J
