What i would like to do here is expand on what was briefly talked about at the end of a long thread, and that is antivirus testing.If anyone has found a current, fair testing containing many different programs, please post that link.This way, everyone can keep an eye on how what they're using is performing.Could really open some eyes here!.Don't base your decision on just one test, but if a few different tests are showing similar results, then maybe thats the reality.My F-secure has performed very well the last few that i've read but it appears the king of detection right now is KAV.Will have to seriously look at KAV. My only concern would be incorperating Kerio into the mix with no problems.Any KAV users experience difficulties trying this?.Anyone found any negatives with F-secure?.I will post the link to the lastest testing i have found and please post any others that you have stumbled on.Here is the link.

Murr, my favorite antivirus program test site is a Greek site. When you go to it, it has Greek and an English "ENTER", so do not let the foreign language stop you from entering the site. The latest tests are Dec. 2005 and is listed on the left hand side. It is at;

Just looked at the test you listed which was a month prior to the one i posted and the results from both are very close.KAV. #1 again,F-secure not far off and AVG Free far down the list with the same detection rating in each test.The fact the spyware cleaners finished so low wasn't a surprise because they have their place in your security looking for smaller and less dangerous items.I don't think they claim to be able to catch everything the antiviruses do.But they have a purpose.
My biggest surprise of this test and it's because so many people count on it, was Zonealarm.It's detection rating was poor.Have a look for yourself.The way they run these tests are spelled out clearly and every product was given fair treatment.
Please ad any others you find.

The other sites are North American ones and they are the associations that the anti-software companies are members of and participate in. They are; http://www.westcoastlabs.org/checkmarkcertification.asp and http://www.virusbtn.com/

It is interesting that you brought up anti-trojan programs. Perhaps the best one, TDS3 from Diamond, announced they were quitting the business. It was due to antivirus companies like Kaspersky, F Secure, Norton, McAffee and the others were doing so good at detecting trojans that TDS could no longer compete in the market place due to ther size and market.

The first link you listed is 16 months old, so i don't classify that as current and both don't explain in very much detail how exactly they tested.If you go to the bottom of the first page of the Review link i posted,look for the word chart and click.On the left hand side, put a check mark in the box of the first 4 or 5 and then AVG.Click compare and you will then see a detailed, side by side comparion of the results.It will show that based on detection,KAV and F-secure are tops and AVG is well behind.I glad you posted these though because it shows KAV, F-secure were good then and even better now while some of the others, including AVG are slipping.Again i'm not putting AVG down, it serves a purpose for uses that have to use a free one,but it irritates me when someone talks about AVG like its the best thing out there and it's not.All these results confirm that.I'm not saying that if your using AVG, your computer will definitely become infected.I am trying to educate myself and in turn, hopefully some readers out there about how the current antiviruses are performing.What these tests tell me is that if your using something like AVG, which has much lower detection rates in all 4 tests, you stand a greater chance of infection compared to say using KAV.And i wanted readers who were unaware of this to know.Kav is even better than my F-secure so i'm looking hard at switching, to give me the best chances of staying clean.

Yes I have noticed that AVG is not the best Murr, Since I upgraded to the AVG Pro Edition ,I did feel more secure .
BUT....
I have downloaded Kaspersky Trial , and looks fairly secure , I think I may purchase this and put the AVG on my sons older system where as he doesnt do to much browsing
