laptop will not reboot using reboot cd

laptop hit by virus psilove i think, can i hook up usb from pc to laptop and run adaware virus scanner from pc to laptop. will adaware take care of the problem. granddaughter has graduation files and pics on laptop its in 3 days. please help

after power on everex flashpage then black screen with "Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:\windows\system32\config\system it says I can use the original setup cd-rom. Select r. When i put in disk it does not appear to boot only run. Thank you

Follow http://support.microsoft.com/kb/307545 <---. What do you mean by "When i put in disk it does not appear to boot only run.". From bios did you set it to boot from CD drive before harddrive?

yes - i did not follow all the instructions in Microsoft How to recover from a corrupted registry. Can't I hook the two computers, my pc which im on now and the laptop and run the adaware program to rid that computer of the virus. won't it start then?

No it won't you will have to fix windows registry first then get rid of whatever is on it.

ok, thanks. Now how do I get to the recovery console. I don't have the windows start up disk both of my computers came with software loaded.
