Laptop keyboard not working properly

In my laptop when i press the following characters there shows some other characters along with the required ones.
For example,when the letter a is pressed a` is shown.Similarly when f is pressed 5f is shown.Likewise the following are shown when the following keys are pressed.
6j when 6
=k when k
help window opens when s is pressed
i cant use leftctrl+a.
Is this due to a virus or a dirty keyboard.If so what should i do?Help me plz...

... try removing the keyboard and use a toothbrush on the connection:
