My laptop won't boot up. It keeps going to step 3 of 3 for Microsoft setup. There was a huge virus that has got into our whole school system, over 3,000 computers. I had used my memory stick to take my lesson plans home and work on them. I had no idea that it would transfer to my laptop. It isn't a school issued laptop so I am going to have to get it fixed myself. Is there anything I can do before spending money to get it repaired?

This laptop was a gift. It came from Best Buy and I hadn't put anything on it yet. I think it came with some protection but not real sure. It said Vista on the sticker. I really didn't even get to use it much!! The cd's for start-up weren't in my bag. So I don't know what to do. I am not the administrator at my school.
