Comment:

I have read some similar posts about the Klone trojan (or virus as avg calls it) but they dont seem to co-relate with my experiences
A routine scan with avg detected a single instance of Klone virus within the file bit_che.exe, a bittorrent search engine I have installed (yes I know downloading stuff is probably how I got it, lesson learnt). Avg has deleted the file and I have removed any system restore points. further avg, trend micro (online scan) and vundofix scans have been clear. My concern is that 2 days before I found this infection my girlfriends creditcard info was stolen. She had used a possibly non secure payment site but I am concerned about the coincidence of then finding a trojan that is possibly capable of lifting card numbers.
From the above info and my hijack this log (available if req.) can anyone either reassure me that I am clean or suggest what else I can do to be certain

Let me to have a look.

Download the "HijackThis" Installer from this link:

http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/e...

1. Save " HJTInstall.exe" to your desktop.
2. Double click on HJTInstall.exe to run the program.
3. By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis.
4. Accept the license agreement by clicking the "I Accept" button.
5.Click on the "Do a system scan and save a log file" button. It will scan and then ask you to save the log.
6. Click "Save log" to save the log file and then the log will open in Notepad.
7. Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
8. Paste the log in your next reply.
9. Do NOT have HijackThis fix anything yet! Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Post Hijackthis Log in your next reply.

All scans I have done up to this point have been clear. I frequenty also use spybot s+d, adaware and spywareblaster.
Just updated to avg version 8 and ran a scan. It just found 239 "warning infections" all activex based. None of these were detected by any other scanner which seems odd. I have listed one below as an example. there was a mix of about 6 different trojans and loads listed as adware. Does it seem odd that no other scanner detected any of these???

HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{8E13DDE1-E013-47ec-9C4C-27C2F78BDD26};"Found Trojan.Conhook.c";"Potentially dangerous object"

Oh and a fair few of the infections found by avg were "vundo" which is particularly odd as I had already run vundofix.exe (recommended to another user on this forum). I'm confused and a little concerned about entering any important info on any website now.

UPDATE: It seems the original "threat" in bit_che.exe was a false positive from avg. see here... http://convivea.com/forums/index.ph...

This is making me think all these new registry entries that the new avg has found are in some way also false positives ?something related to spyware blasters protection. Anyone any ideas

UPDATE2: After fixing all the activex "warnings" avg found I ran a second scan which was clear. I then ran spyware blaster again and found that loads of entries were not protected. After enabling all protection on spywareblaster I re-ran avg and low and behold all the warnings came back so it seems that avg8 and spywareblaster just don't get along

Some times this entry also created by Spyware Doctor.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{8E13DDE1-E013-47ec-9C4C-27C2F78BDD26};"

You can leave it. If you dont have SD then you can remove it.

Allthough your logs are clean. I could not find any thing malicous on your computer.

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware free for home users.

http://www.superantispyware.com/dow...

Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates".
Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
Click the Scanning Control tab.
Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):
Close browsers before scanning.
Scan for tracking cookies.
Terminate memory threats before quarantining.
Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".

To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.
Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.
Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.
If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. A text file will open in your default text editor.
Please copy and paste the Scan Log results in your next reply.
Click Close to exit the program.
