Subject: Klone virus ->no internet! Forever?
OS: NTFS
CPU/Ram: Pentium 4 Minimum Process
Manufacturer/Model: pentium

Hi I have the klone virus and I now cannot access the internet. I read something that says that it changes your IP address and settings. Just wondering if anyone knows if I can get it back again. (am typing this at work) I have found a couple of pages that describe how to get rind of it, but they tell you to download 'hijack this', post logs etc, and I need the internet in order to do that. Thanks for any replies in advance. Note: I'm not sure if the processor type etc are correct but it is something like that.

'OS: NTFS'

Ah... not really - that field is where you put your operating system version (which version of Windows - - XP?).

Hijackthis will fit on a floppy disk, and so would any logs it generates - although without handy internet access, it's going to be a roundabout process at best

Thanks for your reply. My work won't allow us to download any programs unfortunately. Is there a window where I could create a new internet connection with the correct ip address etc? and use it, just to get rid of the virus?

I don't think so - at least, not exactly.

How have you determined your machine is infected with the "Klone Virus"? As near as I can tell, loss of internet access is not one of the symptoms, although there's not a lot of useful info under that specific name - a bit of a description at this commercial site (for information only, not an endorsement)

You could try booting into Safe Mode with Network support and see if you have internet access that way - F8 just before Windows begins to load invokes the startup menu options

It may be klone or may not be. Check if you have the symptoms such as presence of keys in the registry. More about w32.Klone
