Comment: For about 3 weeks I was recieveing at least 1 Klez infected per day. My anti-virus protection would do its job and isolate the virus , and in turn I would delete it from there. Because I have WindowsMe it would infect the Restore Temp folder . So I would have to disable System Restore to purge it from there ! I would always run a full hard drive scan after. Well finally after 3 weeks or more , the virus stopped arriving in my in box in outlook express (per-veiw pane turned off). Well now its back , I started getting it again . I also have a hotmail account , and noticed some emails about 125KB or more in size , however when trying to read the mail the message body would be empty. I now know that hotmaiai pre-scans the emails for viruses and then removes any it finds. So it appears Iam getting Klez sent to me in hotmail also . Iam just wondering how long these attacks can continue for ? Anyone with a simular situation ? Thanks Nick

Reply: hi nick, klez will never stop as long as people don't configure their e-mail client properly. in outlook express in options, in the Read Tab, your Preview Pane should be Unchecked, that is you should not allow an e-mail attachment to open up automatically. then also you should go to the messaging rules and create a rule that for email with an attachment should not be downloaded from server, just to be on the safe side. if you get emails from people you don't know-delete them and all other spam. emails with attachments that have 2 EXTENTIONS such as .pif.exe, .jpg.vbs, .doc.scr etc, etc, etc, SHOULD BE DELETED! against all info to the contrary, you should not install peer to peer progams such as Kaaza, Audio Galaaxy, ICQ etc. these are hotbeds of TROJANS, WORMS, and other scum. this is not 1992 when the internet was nice organic, and wholesome and innocent! the suits have corrupted it. all the best and cheers, murve

Reply: Murve has some wise advice regarding p2p sites.Running adaware and spybot ssd confirmed to me that you have a lot to worry about if you use those download sites.Everybody hears about the virus, trojan and worm problems that plague kazaa.I mesh, kazaa, and the like will pass on trojans to you(not like a hacker trying to control your pc).Trust me,these services aint free!!!!!!!!!!!!These free"gifts" will slow your system, aggravate you with persistent, endless ads.I avoid them like the "plague".
